Happy Pride Month!
Every June, it is so inspiring to watch people come together in cities all over the globe to celebrate and support the LGBTQIA+ community. But — call us biased — there’s nothing quite like NYC Pride — the first and largest — Pride in the world.
What started in 1970 as a 15-block, one-day march to commemorate the 1969 Stonewall demonstrations has evolved into an ongoing extravaganza of events all over the city for the entire month of June… and beyond. Here are some of the Pride festivities The Knickerbocker’s guests are looking forward to most this year.
Pride and Delight at The Knick

The Knickerbocker is beyond PROUD to be an official hotel partner of NYC Pride 2023. Throughout June, The Whitney Museum of American Art is hosting free walking tours of historic queer landmarks and gathering spaces around their Meatpacking District neighborhood. Find dates and registration information here, and learn about other Pride events the Whitney is hosting here.
Sparkle in the Dark Pride Party Cruise

Take to the waters for a night of unity, love and dancing ‘till you drop. All through June, you can cruise around Lower Manhattan in open air, double decker style, grooving to tracks by LGBTQIA+ DJs, sipping Pride-themed cocktails, and looking fabulous under lights of every color of the rainbow.
The Brunch: An LGTBQIA+ Culinary Experience
In honor of both Pride and Juneteenth, Black business leaders, entertainers, artists community leaders and influencers come together for this annual dress-to-impress brunch, prepared by Black chefs from the LGBTQIA+ community. This year’s event will be on June 18th and include interactive experiences and entertainment. Reserve your ticket here.
Wear your Pride on your (coffee) sleeve when you start your day off at Jake’s! We asked multi-hyphenate, Latina lesbian artist Mycah Bueché to create a limited edition cupholder highlighting iconic LGBTQIA+ landmarks in NYC. In honor of the collaboration, proceeds from Jake’s, as well as from our Sip of Sunshine cocktail at St. Cloud, will benefit Queer | Art, an organization founded to connect and empower LGBTQIA+ artists at every level of their careers.
Our friends at Queer | Art have also teamed up with Body Hack, a mutual aid project for transgender and nonbinary groups, to throw a 15-hour party on June 23rd in Ridgewood that includes a daytime queer vendor fair and dancing until dawn. Find more information and tickets here.
Front Runners New York LGBT Pride Run 4M
Kick off Pride Weekend on Saturday, June 24th with a healthy four-mile run! This annual Central Park race started in 1982 and has become a Guinness World Record-breaker for largest Pride charity run with more than 10,200 finishers in 2019. This year’s beneficiary is the Hetrick-Martin Institute, which provides community and services to LGBTQIA+ youth.

The king, queen and grand duchess of all Pride events, the free Annual NYC Pride March begins at noon on June 25th near Madison Square Park (at 25th Street and Fifth Avenue), sweeping up most of Midtown and Lower Manhattan in its spectacular, rainbow-colored wake for the rest of the weekend. This year’s theme is Strength in Solidarity, unifying all members of the queer community who are targeted by bigotry, and features Billy Porter, Yasmin Benoit, AC Dumlao, Hope Giselle, and Randy Wicker as grand marshals.

After the parade, head over to the Brooklyn Army Terminal on June 25th from 2 p.m. to 10 pm. to dance all night at the Pride Island music festival. This year’s headliner is Christina Aguilera, with Billboard #1 Remixer and Indie Music award nominee Guy Scheiman, featuring Karina Kay and Forever Tel Aviv’s Mor Avrahmi, spinning.
