Summer in the city means we’re looking to enjoy as many things outdoors as possible. And one of absolute favorites is a classic New York picnic. Because what could be better than indulging in tasty treats while relaxing under the sun? Not much—although we’ve never loved lugging food all the way to the park. Here at The Knick, we’re bringing the New York picnic to new levels with the PicKNICK at St. Cloud, our rooftop overlooking Times Square.
A New York Picnic: PicKNICK at St. Cloud
For the new PicKNICK, celebrity chef Charlie Palmer and Executive Chef Christopher Engel created three different picnic baskets for guests to choose. Each offers a unique take on the quintessential picnic, inspired by the U.S., the Mediterranean, or France.
In the American-style basket, enjoy petite Berkshire ham and Swiss cheese sandwiches, bourbon deviled eggs, a basket of heart cherries, and the whimsical childhood favorite, “Ants on a Log.”
Crossing the Atlantic, the Mediterranean-style basket takes guests to the coast of Italy and Greece. The basket includes grilled pita, marinated feta, salame di Felino, Taggiasca olives, seafood salad, taramasalata dip, rosemary-herbed marcona almonds. For desert, chocolate-covered corn kernels provide a sweet-and-salty finish.
For the French basket, you’ll be transported to Provence with sturgeon caviar, chive crème fraîche, Balik salmon, a Rougie foie gras pate, Ficelle bread, a wheel of Camembert, acacia honey, and deliciously sweet champagne grapes.
Baskets are perfect for a group of four, but also make for a perfect—and filling—date for two!
Especially for summer, we also have three new cocktails that pair perfectly with a New York picnic. There’s the refreshing Lejay Spritz with Prosecco and Lejay crème de Cassis, along with the robust French Twist (made with spiced rum), and the Wrong Way Rosé, a drink so beautiful it has to be right.
Come visit us at St. Cloud to enjoy our New York picnic! We’ll be celebrating Summer Fridays, offering a complimentary Lejay Spritz for guests who arrive to the PicKNICK before 2pm. And if you’re not in the mood for a picnic basket, there’s a menu of delectable small bites and cocktails available as well. Enjoy Maine lobster rolls with burrata and cherry tomato confit, along with summery cocktails like the Brazilian Orchard, a New York spin on the classic caipirinha.
We hope to see you soon at our New York picnic! It’s a sure way to upgrade your summer.
