What’s Playing at The Knick: NYC Events Winter 2017
Winter is baring its teeth here in NYC, and it has us seeking out refuge with good drinks, good food and good music. Here at The Knick, we’re taking care of all three with a full lineup of music events at our restaurants and rooftop. At Charlie Palmer at The Knick, find jazz Monday through Friday evenings from a rotating collection of local bands. Up atop Times Square at the hotel’s St. Cloud Social Rooftop, DJs take over on Tuesdays and Thursdays, with monthly full moon parties and other events as well. Here’s the full lineup of NYC winter 2017 events at The Knick.
What’s Playing at The Knick: NYC Winter 2017 Events
Charlie Palmer at the Knick (6-9pm)
Mondays: Alex Hoffman Band
Hear the dulcet tunes from tenor saxophonist Alex Hoffman and his band. The DC native has called New York his home for over a decade, performing with numerous of the city’s premier jazz bands as well as in film, including 2008’s Revolutionary Road, starring Leonardo Dicaprio and Kate Winslet.
Tuesdays: Antonio Ciacca Trio
Italian-American jazz pianist and composer Antonio Ciacca plays on Tuesdays with his band. An instructor at prestigious Juilliard, Ciacca has performed at Carnegie Hall and previously served as the Director of Programming for Jazz at Lincoln Center.
Wednesdays: Rhapsody ft. Andromeda Turre
The jazz band Rhapsody—joined by singer Andromeda Turre and her silky vocals—bring familiar songs of today’s pop culture into a vintage jazz style. The group’s repertoire also includes jazz classics.
Thursdays: Koran Agan Trio
Koran Agan’s trio plays jazz standards on guitars, making for a surprising and refreshing take on songs.
Fridays: Alex Blade Trio
Cuban-American saxophonist Alex Blade has a soulful and genre defying sound. He’s performed at festivals and stages across the country, and is set to release an album with his trio soon.
St. Cloud Social Rooftop
Tuesdays: LC3 ft. Ava Raiin
Ava Raiin has risen from backup singer—sharing the stage with the likes of Melissa Etheridge, Solange Knowles and Carly Rae Jepsen—to popular solo artist herself. Her latest music video “Eagle Eye” premiered on Afropunk and became a Vimeo Staff Pick. Hear her Tuesdays beginning January 24th, from 8-10pm.
Thursdays: DJ Stiletto
Mari Malek, popularly known as DJ Stiletto, is one of NYC’s top DJs, collaborating with Vogue, WWD, Lady Gaga, and more. On top of DJing, Sudanese-born Malek founded Stand For Education, a non- profit organization dedicated to empowering girls and providing access to education for underprivileged children. Hear her from the DJ booth from 5-10pm, as well as at every Full Moon NYC rooftop party through March.
January 28: Chinese New Year
Voss Events is hosting an exclusive Chinese New Year’s party, complete with dragon dancers on The Knick’s rooftop atop Times Square. Celebrate from 10pm-2am.
February 11: Cold Moon Party with Dragonette and Hari Nef
At the onset of NYFW, celebrate at The Knick’s monthly full moon party with the band Dragonette. Their hit “Hello” swept the world in 2010, and now the Toronto-based band has released a new album, Royal Blues. Model and actress Hari Nef will also be in attendance to rock out to the band’s songs. From 9pm to 2am.
February 18: Brooklyn Art & Music
Early in the evening, peruse a pop-up gallery of local Brooklyn artists on the rooftop. Later, the art changes from visual to musical, with sounds from Ultra Music DJ and DJ Slate. From 6pm to 1am.
